Sugar production Forecast

The EU sugar balance sheet from July indicates a lower production in season 25/26 mainly driven by a general decline in beet growing areas – led by Austria with a decline of >20%. However, the weather circumstances had been good this summer and the beet got water to grow without too much of heat. This let the forecast rise again to a higher level and the commission will not release too much import quotas to maintain the local consumption of sugar.
